Wallpaper Online is South Africa’s largest direct-to-consumer wallpaper and wall-mural maker. We design, print and ship from our Bryanston studio in Johannesburg — five different wallpaper materials, custom sizes, and free delivery anywhere in SA on orders over R1,000.

We started in 2020 with one printer and a hunch that South Africans wanted wallpaper that suited the way they actually live — high sunlight, mixed wall surfaces, a preference for peel-and-stick over commitment. Six years later we’ve shipped to 35,000+ homes, earned a 4.9-star average across 380+ verified Google reviews, and grown into the largest local-made wallpaper supplier on the continent.

How we started

In 2020, Dillon Warren was renovating a Joburg house and couldn’t find wallpaper that did three things at once: handle South African sunlight without fading, install without paste or a tradesperson, and ship in a week instead of importing from Europe over six.

So we built it. We started with one HP Latex printer in a Bryanston warehouse, a library of about 200 designs, and a peel-and-stick substrate that survived Highveld summers. The first year was mostly word-of-mouth — interior designers who’d lost faith in import suppliers, renters who needed a removable option, parents redoing nurseries on a deadline.

Six years on, the library is over 1,500 designs, we offer five different substrates, and we still print every order to size in the same Bryanston studio.

How we make wallpaper

Every order is printed to your exact dimensions. Nothing is pre-printed and warehoused — your wallpaper doesn’t exist until you order it. That means no offcuts, no waste, and the colour you see on screen matches what comes off our printer because we proof every batch.

Five substrate options:

Peel & Stick Smooth Matte — our most popular finish. Renter-friendly, removable, low-tack adhesive that doesn’t strip paint. Best for tenants, kids’ rooms, anyone who wants to change their mind in two years.
KOZO Peel & Stick — a textured natural-paper feel. Same removability as smooth matte, but with subtle visible weave that catches light. Best for living rooms and bedrooms where you want depth.
Artex Canvas Texture Peel & Stick — a woven-cloth surface. Reads more “finished art piece” than wallpaper. Best for feature walls and statement pieces.
DuraMatte Fabric — non-adhesive, paste-applied to the wall. Designed for plaster walls where peel-and-stick won’t grip. Reusable if you move.
Traditional Non-Woven — the long-term install. Paste-the-wall, pigment-locked, lasts 15+ years. Best for forever homes and commercial spaces.

Every roll is printed using GreenGuard Gold certified low VOC inks onto 60cm wide or 110cm (extra wide) panels, which means no awkward seams halfway up a wall, no industrial-roll waste, and a finish that’s water-resistant and washable.

Where we make it

Our studio is in Bryanston, Johannesburg. It’s not a showroom — it’s a working print floor. Three 3m wide printers, a wide-format cutter, a packing bench, and a small team that proofs every order before it ships.

Our team

The business is led by Dillon Warren, founder and director. Dillon has spent the last seven years specialising in researching, designing and manufacturing peel-and-stick, non-woven and fabric wallpapers for South African homes — his work has been featured in Garden & Home, SA Decor & Design, and Entrepreneur Magazine.

Behind him is a small but specialised team: print operators who’ve been with us since year two, an in-house design team that creates our exclusive collections, and a customer service team based in Joburg that you can phone, email, or message on WhatsApp.

What we believe

Three things shape how we work:

Made here, not imported. Every design we sell is printed in our Johannesburg studio. We don’t drop-ship from China or import from Europe. That keeps lead times short, supports local manufacturing, and gives you a real person to call if something goes wrong.
Reversible by default. Four of our five substrates are removable. Wallpaper shouldn’t be a 20-year commitment — it should be allowed to evolve with your taste, your kids’ age, your style.
Honest about materials. We tell you which substrate suits which wall, why peel-and-stick fails on certain paint types, and where traditional non-woven is genuinely the better choice. We’d rather sell you the right product than the most expensive one.
