The design sits in charcoal grey, mid grey and white. It works as a near-neutral because none of the greys compete with each other, so it slots in beside existing furniture and woodwork without forcing a new colour scheme. The white ground keeps the room feeling open even though the motif itself is bold.
The starburst motif is large, so how it reads depends on how much wall it covers. On a full-height feature wall the bursts unfold as a motif, but on a narrow strip or behind a doorway only a fragment shows, which can look more like scattered texture than the intended design.
