Narrow wood-look planks are set at an angle and mirrored against each other to form the classic herringbone chevron, with each board carrying its own grain, knots and tonal variation rather than a flat repeat. Up close it reads as timber; from across a room the chevrons knit into a continuous textured surface.
The palette runs through pale ash, mid grey and deeper charcoal within the wood grain, without any colour reading as yellow or brown. Because it stays in the grey family it sits comfortably with warm timber floors, black fittings or pale walls, and under bright Highveld daylight the contrast between the planks stays crisp rather than warming up.
Because the chevrons are a fairly fine, even motif rather than one large image, it works on a wall you pass by often – a hallway, a home office or behind a living room console – as much as one you sit facing. It reads well in both bright and lower light since the pattern comes from texture rather than strong colour contrast.
Because each mural is printed to the exact dimensions you give, measure the widest and tallest points of the wall rather than an average, include any doors or windows within that run, and round up slightly. Ordering a touch more costs little, while a drop that falls short means reprinting the panel.
It's supplied as a set of numbered panels, either 60cm or 110cm wide, that butt up against each other in sequence. You hang them in order starting from one edge of the wall and working across, which keeps the herringbone lines aligning correctly panel to panel.
