The design pairs a deep navy blue with a pale, almost icy blue, set side by side rather than blended, which is what gives it its punch. Drama in a room like this comes from the sharpness of that contrast rather than from either hue on its own, so pairing it with plain, restrained furnishings lets the opposing tones carry the room.
Each circle-and-octagon motif sits at a medium scale, roughly a quarter of a metre across, so it reads clearly as a pattern from across a room rather than blurring into texture up close. On a single wall you'll see several full repeats, which keeps the geometry legible without overwhelming a smaller room.
Its graphic, high-contrast structure works best as a single feature wall rather than wrapping a whole room, so a living room, dining room or hallway tends to suit it well. It sits comfortably against plain flooring, simple furniture and uncluttered skirtings, letting the pattern do the visual work.
Expect it to look richer and more saturated once it's covering a whole wall, because a large painted or papered surface reflects its own colour back onto itself. A small sample will always undersell the intensity, so judge the final effect by imagining the tone a shade or two deeper than it first appears.
Because the repeat is quite regular, wrapping it around a corner in one unbroken piece tends to crease and throw the geometry out of alignment. Cutting the paper at the corner and overlapping the edges slightly gives a cleaner result and keeps the circles and squares reading correctly on both walls.
